CueID Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 15, 2026

CueID identifies the music in recordings you choose, such as DJ mixes, radio shows and podcasts, and turns it into a tracklist. It runs on Mac, iPhone and iPad. This policy explains what CueID does with your information and what leaves your device.

In short: CueID has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising, and your recordings are never uploaded.

Your Recordings

CueID reads the audio files you open in it, the podcast episodes you download and the files you add from a link. It analyses them on your device to find tracks, their start times, BPM and musical key, and to draw their waveforms.

Your audio files are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.

Music Recognition

CueID uses Apple’s ShazamKit to recognise music. For each section of a recording, it makes a short acoustic signature on your device and sends only that signature to Apple’s Shazam service for matching. The audio itself is not sent. Apple returns details of the matching song, such as its title, artist, artwork and Apple Music link. Apple’s handling of these requests is covered by Apple’s privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

Apple Music

If you choose to make an Apple Music playlist from a tracklist, CueID asks for access to Apple Music. With your permission, it searches the Apple Music catalogue for the identified songs and creates a playlist in your library. CueID uses this access only for that. You can withdraw it at any time in Settings on iPhone and iPad, or in System Settings on Mac.

When you search for a podcast, CueID sends what you typed to Apple’s Apple Podcasts directory to find matching shows.

When you follow a podcast, CueID fetches its feed from the address the podcast publishes, and downloads the episodes you choose from wherever the podcast hosts them. When you paste a link, such as a Dropbox or Google Drive share link, CueID downloads the file from that link.

As with any download, those servers receive the usual technical details of the request, such as your IP address, and handle them under their own privacy policies. CueID does not send them anything else about you.

What CueID Stores

Your scan history, tracklists, followed podcasts, downloaded episodes and settings are kept on your device, in CueID’s own storage. Exported tracklists and split tracks are saved where you choose. None of this is sent to us.

You can delete scans from the history, delete downloaded episodes in Podcasts, and remove everything by deleting the app.

Purchases

CueID is free to download, and a one-time in-app purchase unlocks unlimited scans. There is no subscription. Purchases are made and handled by Apple through the App Store. CueID checks with Apple whether the unlock has been bought, and never sees your payment details.

Notifications

If you allow it, CueID sends a notification when a scan finishes, which may include the recording’s name and the number of tracks found. These notifications are made on your device.

What CueID Does Not Do

CueID does not:

Children

CueID is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy
